The BFI has lovingly restored Underground, a silent film directed by Anthony Asquith in 1928. It was screened at the Barbican last night, along with a live score composed by Neil Brand and performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
The film was a fascinating insight into 1920s London - and the fact that people were as crunk on the Tube as they are today. Not sure if the film will be be released by here’s an excellent piece about its controversial director.
